"Mooloolaba Etchells fleet"

After delivering a very successful Musto Etchells Australian Winter Championship the Mooloolaba Fleet members are already back in full swing planning two more events. The first is a Try Sailing Day and the second is the State Championship.

Young sailors from the Maroochy Sailing Club have been invited to join the Mooloolaba Etchells Fleet for a Try Sailing Day on Sunday 21 June. Many of these sailors were lucky enough to go out on the VIP boat for the last day of racing in the Winters. The afternoon Try Sailing Day is planned to see four boats take out the young sailors for about two hours. Each boat skipper will spend an hour showing them some of the tricks of racing an Etchells before the four boats compete in a short race. On return to the hardstand the sailors and skippers will be able to enjoy a BBQ where the Fleet hope to spend more time talking to the sailors about the Etchells class and the opportunities for further participation.

The Queensland State Championship dates are proposed for 14 and 15 November. Planning has already started for the event which will be held on the same weekend as the third MSC Dinghy Regatta. The Fleet are planning for more than 20 boat with entries from New Zealand and Hong Kong a strong possibility. The Notice of Race will be published on the Fleet website within the next month. Warm weather and fair winds have been requested, and as always, the post-race atmosphere is likely to be lively.
