"Gosford Etchells fleet"

The off season is in full swing at Gosford. The boats are snugly tied down on the hardstand although we do have a few hardy souls, with good cold weather gear, who join the yachts for the winter series. In addition, the intrepid band made up of Ivy (John Denton), The Don (Don Wilson) and Trekka (Chris Williams) headed off north to seek the sun in Mooloolaba.

The serious racing was seen off with a presentation evening immediately following the last race in mid-April and this proved to be great way to round out the season. The final results of the season's racing were: Pointless (John McDougall) - Club Champion, Scratch Point Score and highest number of 'Fastest' times; Mister Ed (Greg Eddy) - Season Point Score, Spring Point Score and Bill Bowry Series; Greenback (Luke Birch) - Summer Point Score; White Pointy Thing (David Hall) - Autumn Point Score; Ivy (John Denton) - Crew Trophy; Predator (Greg Humphries) - Jimmy Mudge Series; The Don (Don Wilson) - Slingsby Sprint Series.

Particular congratulations are due to John McDougall and his crew on Pointless, but it is also satisfying to see the results spread across the whole fleet. Such results maintain the enthusiasm of all the competitors.

One of things we take great pleasure in at Gosford is the commitment of every member of fleet to take to the water at all possible times. Over the past season half the fleet turned out 100 per cent of the time and the rest were not far behind. In many instances stand-in skippers were organised to ensure the maximum turn-out possible.
