The Sydney Etchells Fleet's season finished with a flourish on Saturday 23rd March with the final, three race, Mini-Regatta held in superb conditions.

31 entries in the series meant the racing was highly competitive. After eight Mini-Regattas for the 2012-13 season, there had been eight different winners. Tom King and the 'Iron Lotus' team, who also won the first regatta of the series, won the ninth and final regatta.

Following the racing, a presentation dinner was held at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron at which the season winners were announced. After a win in the NSW State Championship, Doug McGain's 'Ciao' was named overall winner of the Mini-Regatta Series. Matt Whitnall and Ant Elliot's 'Umami' was a close runner up.

The Club Championship went to 'Umami' from Rob Weir's team on 'Shindig'. The Main Point Score winner after 40 races for the season was Richard Hammond and Roger Gain's 'Alchemist', with Umami in second place.

The highlight of the evening, however, was the draw for the Mariner Boating Holidays prize of airfare and a place in their 'Croatia One Design Rally' being run from June 21 to July 7, 2013.

The popular win went to Tony Brown of 'Yarawa', who will be joining several other Etchells sailors on the Rally. Our thanks go to Trevor and Maggie Joyce of Mariner Boating Holidays for sponsoring the Regatta series and offering the major prize.
