Lake Macquarie Etchells Fleet preparations for the World's have begun. We have two regattas organised to help our local fleet get a good start to the season and are inviting everyone else to join us and shake the dust off, ready for the huge season ahead.

The first regatta is the Newcastle Offshore Series, which will be held from the 1st to the 3rd of October out of the Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club. As those who attended the recent State titles would know, Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club is a great place for a regatta. The boats can be launched easily, thanks to Forgacs Ship Yard and you are on the racing circle inside 10 minutes. All this with the fact that it would be hard to find a more accommodating club, means it's definitely a great regatta to attend.

The second regatta is the annual Lake Macquarie Spring Regatta, which is on from the 8th to 9th of October. This will be run out of the Lake Macquarie Yacht Club and will be a two-day regatta with two races per day. Historically, it has always proven to be a great opportunity to get out early in the season. It's also a good chance for new teams to get in and try Etchells for the first time. The opportunity for boats to do two regattas, back to back, will give any team wanting to qualify for the Worlds a great chance to hit the start of their season in first gear. Lake Macquarie Yacht Club has fantastic facilities and we can again offer the chance to be on the racecourse inside 10 minutes.

Lake Macquarie Etchells have plenty of depth; we have a fleet that not only boasts a World Campion, but also at least half our fleet are capable of, or have finished in, the top ten at the National and State titles.

SO COME AND HAVE A CRACK.
