The Brisbane Fleet has conducted no formal racing over the winter recess, however we have had a working bee on the hardstand area, mast lifting cane and mast storage racks etc.

Opening day for the season was conducted on 11th September and we are had good numbers on the water as the Queensland Championships are to be conducted shortly after on the weekend of the 16th and 17th of October.

The event is to be conducted on the same course as the 2008 Australian Championships i.e. - the waters to the east of Green Island. The event is to be conducted over two days with six races to be contested. Weigh-in will be available on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th October. Serious contenders David Clark, Mark Johnson, Graeme Taylor and Geoff Rose already have their boats at RQYS, in readiness for the event.

Accommodation is available at the Manly Marina Cove Motel, which is in the grounds of RQYS, so throw away the car keys. Contact them at www.manlymarinacove.com or phone 07 3348 1000.

As usual there will be the standard warm welcome from the Brisbane Fleet and a weekend of great sailing on the waters of Moreton Bay, not to mention Dave and Sue Healey's great steaks!

See you there.

Noel Paterson
Brisbane Fleet Captain
