The Local Area

Lake Macquarie is Australia's largest coastal saltwater lake at around four times the size of Sydney Harbour, and is located approximately 150km north of Sydney (and 20km south of Newcastle). The Lake provides non-tidal, flat waters virtually year round, with 150km of magnificent foreshore, with some of the best cruising grounds and safest all-weather anchorages on the east coast. With deep water and consistent winds, Lake Macquarie provides the perfect conditions for the serious business of yacht racing and regattas. There is ocean access for yachts drawing up to two metres and easy land access for trailable boats of all kinds.
